What did you do this past week?

This past week I completed Collatz. It felt great to have the semester’s first project under my belt. I also attended class, did the required reading, and am now writing this blog post.

What’s in your way?

I struggled a bit toward the end of Collatz to finish the optimizations due to a very simple mistake. Fortunatley, I got over the hump and submitted. Now, since the next assignment has not yet started, there is nothing in my way.

What will you do next week?

Next week I expect to again attend class, do the readings, and write the blog post. I will also get started with the second project, IDB1. I’m pretty excited to get started and meet my group for this project and to learn some new tools for working in a team on a coding project.

What were your experience of exceptions, IDB1, and types? (this question will vary, week to week)

I enjoyed talking about all of these in class! It seems like IDB1 will be a great project to learn about AWS, web development, and start working in our teams. Learning about exceptions and types in Python was also very interesting as they’re pretty different than their Java counter-parts.

What made you happy this week?

Completing Collatz and a Liverpool win! The return of the NFL is also going great. While the football being played isn’t at its highest quality yet, it’s better than I expected with limited training camp and pre-season.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick of the week is “The Morning Brew.” I’ve been trying to adopt some productive habits to go with online classes and working from my apartment and one of them has been reading the news. Morning Brew is a morning newsletter sent via email that I’ve found to be much more brief, relevant, and digestable than many of its counterparts. The newsletter seems pretty popular so I’m certain some of you have heard of it, but I’ve really enjoyed it this week.
